Welcome to the 2024-2025 Season!
It is that time of the year again to begin the CIF wrestling season. Our Association’s first training meeting will be on 10/13 followed by 10/20, 10/27 & 11/3 at Ayala High School, 14255 Peyton Dr, Chino Hills, CA 91709 at 2 PM in the wrestling room (same location on campus as last year).
In addition to these training meetings, each referee is required to work a pre-season wrestling event for free with the proceeds going to the association as a fundraiser. This change has been adopted into our Constitution and By-Laws. Based upon our anticipated income and expenses, dues will remain at $150.00 for Full Members and $95.00 for Associate Members.
At the end of the year, there will be a transition in leadership within our association as Dave Peters will no longer serving as a Past President, Marc Yanez will have fulfilled his At-Large leadership role, and | will move to Past President as Phil is elevated to President next season. Therefore, will have elections for Vice President and for the At-Large position on our last meeting day (11/3). If you are interested, please make it known to our Board membership.
Some things to keep in mind…
- The season is scheduled to start with assignments on 11/11. The Assigner (Hector Garcia) will be assigning officials to wrestling events as they become available. Everyone will need to block dates for unavailability ASAP to prevent turn-backs. Officials who have been inactive will be deleted from our Arbiter roster. Officials wishing to remain on our roster will need to pay the $10.00 reservation to offset. Arbiter slot costs by 10/13.
- Check your uniforms condition for wear, size, and related equipment (flip disk, ankle straps, whistle).
- Please continue to access our association website at www.fhwoa.org. I encourage everyone to look at this portal to the wrestling community. It continues to be a work in progress with many links to external entities that are informational and useful. Your contact information and picture are listed on this site! On the home page, is the announcement for the Wrestling Rules Interpretation Meeting (Duan Morgan) for 10/8 at 6 PM. You must preregister for this Zoom presentation through the hyperlink area (Pre-Register Here). Attendance is required for any official wishing to be considered for selection to State or Master’s events but is recommended for everyone.
- The need for wrestling officials, like all other sports nationwide, continues to be an issue. We hope to add as many officials to our Association as possible. I hope everyone will serve as an ambassador for our association with recruitment efforts.
I hope you all are ready for this season, and I look forward to seeing you all at our scheduled training meetings. I will continue to keep you all updated with needed information from our Board and with the Southern California Wrestling Association (SCWOA) as our parent organization.
